Three local organisations, Laxdale Gaelic Choir, Music Projects Hebrides, and Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2011, have joined forces to run a new series of quiz nights over 2010.

Each monthly event will have cash prize for the winners, along with a special prize for the team with half or more of its members being under 18 years.

A league will run over the next nine months and the team with the highest aggregate marks from any six nights out of the nine in the series winning a substantial cash prize.

Organiser Aileen Whytock explained: “As separate organisations we have run quiz nights which have been great fun for everyone taking part. We though that by combining forces to run a quiz league we could add an extra level of competition.

“As every league needs a name we have chosen to call this one the ‘LaMpMo Quiz League’ in recognition of our joint venture.

“We always enjoy the way a quiz night brings together teams of all ages and abilities and we hope that the fist Saturday of each month will become a regular date in many diaries. Questions will always be on a variety of subjects so hopefully everyone will be an expert on something!”

The first quiz will take place at 7.30 on Saturday 6th March in the Royal British Legion and, thereafter on the first Saturday of each month with the final round on Saturday 6th of November.

Entry will be £2 for Adults and £1 for under 18’s. A maximum of 6 members allowed per team.
